Understanding the experiences of individuals with immunosuppressive conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic (UNIFIED)

COVID-19 Research Area(s): Epidemiology & Public Health, Healthcare Delivery & Policy, Mental Health & Wellbeing, Social Impacts

Many individuals live with serious conditions that weaken their ability to fight infections, making them more vulnerable to COVID-19. These include individuals with cancer and arthritis. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought tremendous challenges for these individuals who need complex, continual care.

We will survey and interview individuals with these conditions to explore how they are receiving care during the pandemic, whether public responses to combat the pandemic have caused changes to their treatment, and how current circumstances have impacted their mental health. Understanding these challenges will help doctors and decision makers optimize care delivery to these vulnerable individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
