BioID experiments to identify targets of the SARS-Cov 2 protease

SARSCov2 is a new virus for which little is known, notably it is not clear how the virus hijacks host cells. Our team recently implemented the BioID proteomics method to identify which human proteins interact with viral proteins. We now want to apply this method to help identify which proteins interact with the 3CLpro viral protease using Hek293 cells. This new project is a collaborative effort with the laboratory of Dr. Eric Jan (BMB) who will then validate hits using assays their team developed. Notably we want to determine whether CoV2 3CLpro has specific interaction in comparison to other viruses such as MERS.
