Covid-19 and the Postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Games: Coping, Adaptation, and Psychological Wellbeing

COVID-19 Research Area(s): Mental Health & Wellbeing

We will examine how Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls' psychological well-being (PWB) is shaped by how they cope with and adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic and postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. We will conduct interviews with twenty athletes (10 Olympic and 10 Paralympic) who were very likely to compete in the 2020 Games. We will identify patterns within the athletes' stories to learn about their coping and adaptation to, and PWB in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic and postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Games.
