COVID-19 Impact of General Surgeon Mental Health Survey; Psychological and Workplace-Related Effects

COVID-19 Research Area(s): Healthcare Delivery & Policy, Mental Health & Wellbeing

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ongoing effect on the mental health of health care workers (HCWs) has been a hidden cost to the system. The study uses a survey that includes a combination of validated stress and burnout scales, and discipline-specific questions to evaluate personal and systemic factors that affect the mental health of surgeons providing care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, we aim to identify strategies aimed at mitigating driving factors associated with the long-term sequelae of health care worker stress and burnout.
