Nature4GlobalCare; Nature and human well-being in times of isolation and a global pandemic

COVID-19 Research Area(s): Environment, Social Impacts

We are interested in understanding the connection between indoor/outdoor nature and human well-being in times of isolation during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We designed an on-line survey to distribute globally (mainly to urbanites) asking questions about (1) how people perceive/connect with nature in their day-to-day lives, and (2) the role of nature in supporting people cope with stress and other factors affecting human well-being during self-isolation/lockdown. The results could have long-lasting impacts as insights have the potential to inform decision-making around healthy lifestyle choices and healthy city planning in the future. We are planning to send a follow-up survey engaging participants who indicate interest to be involved (this interest will be captured with the last question of the current survey). The details of the follow-up survey are not yet known. Therefore, an amendment will be submitted to this project once we design the follow-up survey and it is ready for distribution (within 6-12 months).
